Mattie Smyth was born and raised in Walla Walla, WA before attending Creighton University in Omaha, NE to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. It was there that Mattie became involved in a number of opportunities that sparked her passion for student life and student development. She was involved in living learning communities, student government, new student orientation, alternative service breaks, and her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma where she served as president. She went on to earn her Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. During her time in graduate school, Mattie worked at Baldwin Wallace University in the Cleveland, OH area as a Residence Hall Director and as the advisor to the Interfraternity Council. Mattie has now brought her work in fraternity and sorority advising to Atlanta and is excited to be at such a wonderful Institute with a powerful and dynamic fraternity and sorority community. She has been with Georgia Tech since May of 2019.
